Innovation in the design

Bic Sport took particular care in the design of its kayaks to give them slender and innovative lines. Designed by FRITSCH Design and BIC Sport, our kayaks have, as a result, won four consecutive awards (called "Stars") at the French Design competition, The "Observeur du Design", which is held annually in France to promote industrial design and nominate the most innovative creations.

In 2003 the Bilbao was awarded a "star", in 2004 the Ouassou, in 2006 it was the Yakka and in 2007, it was the turn of the Kalao, for their design, ergonomics, sea-faring qualities, as well as for their construction made out of 100% recyclable and environmentally-friendly materials.

THD - Tri Hull Design : designed for fun.

The unique THD shape provides the optimum in speed, comfort and stability for BIC Sport Kayaks. The result of over 20 years of BIC Sport watercraft design and innovation, the THD shape has been developed to provide improved gliding and stability while maintaining maneuverability. Inspired from current tri-maran designs, the THD shape features a central section (1) for increased gliding, two outside hull sections (2) to stabilize the kayak and two intermediate concaves (3) to create lift and an optimal mix of water and air for heightened performance. On the Ouassou, the design is revised to feature two concaves for increased gliding and lift.
