The Kalao, awarded the 'Etoile du Design 2008'

On 10th October last year was held the annual Design Award Ceremony organised by the APCI at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, to promote the creation of innovative designs.

On this occasion, the Kalao was awarded the “Etoile” of the “Observeur du Design”for its design, its ergonomics, its sea-faring qualities and its environmentally-friendly technology, being made out of 100% recyclable materials.

The Kalao has been on show from 27th January 2008 at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris.

The jury at the award ceremony of the "Observeur du Design", held in Paris, based its final decisions very much on the matter of protection of the environment. Bic Sport was able to demonstrate its commitment to the promotion of environmental conservation during the manufacturing process of its products.
In order to respect the environment, our kayaks are made out of thermoformed polyethylene, a particularly ecologically friendly material, as, during its production, very few hazardous chemicals are used and there is no waste material.
All excess material is broken down and recycled back into the production process, any gas emissions into the atmosphere are negligible and the water used for cooling is recycled.
